Safety is everybody's business.
While Kenai Peninsula College's campuses and extension sites are very safe, at times
there are rare criminal occurrences. All KPC campuses and sites work with local law
enforcement agencies to minimize criminal activity. It is important that when students,
staff, faculty or visitors have any safety concerns or witness any crime or breach
of the college Code of Conduct they contact KPC directors or other employees immediately.
If there are no college employees available, the local police should be notified.
Employees, visitors, and students are cautioned to be aware of their physical safety and keep track of their belongings while on campus or in the parking areas. It is not a good idea to leave keys in automobile ignitions and everyone is encouraged to lock their cars.
Campuses are accessible to members of the public during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, and for limited hours on Saturday and Sunday, while classes are in session. During semester breaks, hours of access are reduced but are posted at the entrances. Most buildings are closed to all but faculty and staff for holidays. Students are encouraged to walk together to the parking lot, particularly at night, and may request an escort from campus staff or faculty.
UAA provides Campus Security Reports for KRC and KBC that include campus crime statistics for the three most current years; campus security measure; crime reporting and alert procedures; crime prevention strategies and educational programs; the sexual offenses policy, complaint procedures, and disciplinary actions for violations of alcohol and other drug policies.
