Paramedics and EMT's are some of the most important of all health care professionals
and may make the difference between life and death.
Overview
Paramedics are the highest trained class of Emergency Medical Technicians working in America. They are in-charge at the scene of an emergency and, when necessary, perform critical life-saving procedures both on location and during transport of patients to an Emergency Department. Paramedics perform life-saving procedures such as intubation, surgical airways, cardiac monitoring and treatment of life-threatening rhythms with both medications and electricity.
Students will apply to the paramedic program through Kenai Peninsula College and will receive instruction online. Students can complete skill labs at either Kenai Peninsula College or at Mat-Su College. All paramedic students have the opportunity to train in a state of the art facility with ambulance bay and simulation technology.
The paramedic program offers an Associate of Applied Science in Paramedical Technology through University of Alaska Anchorage. The successful student can apply to become a Nationally Registered Paramedic with the ability to function as a team member on an advanced life support ambulance.
