If your idea of a challenge involves troubleshooting and digging into systems to resolve technical issues, then the field of industrial process instrumentation might be for you. In this field, students learn to manage, maintain and optimize equipment used to monitor and control complex engineering systems, machinery, and processes used in refineries, chemical plants, pipelines, oil and gas production facilities, food processing facilities, and other industries where automatic control is used. You will explore technologies such as programmable logic controllers (PLC), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).
You'll be learning from highly qualified instructors who have many years of industry experience so that you have both high quality academic and experiential qualities in your program. KPC's program has been developed with close collaboration with industry to ensure that students are work-ready when they complete their coursework. KPC graduates are highly sought after by minor and major industry players. Many companies come on campus to interview students for both internships and entry-level positions.
This degree is offered at the Kenai River Campus, but general classes that are required for this degree can be taken through any campus or online. The program specific courses are held in KPC's Career and Technical Education Center. It is vital to meet with an advisor to ensure proper course sequencing and selection to ensure completion in the shortest time possible.
