The art program prepares and empowers students to create a difference in the world by using their artistic abilities.

Are you creative and like to explore your artistic potential? Consider a degree in art and start at KPC! Students take courses in a range of media and critique the work of their peers. They learn not only to make art but also to articulate the process of making art, with all of its joys and challenges. Courses are offered in a wide array of media, including drawing, sculpture, painting, photography, digital imaging, and more. Students have an opportunity to exhibit their work on campus and in the community. Members of the art faculty are active exhibitors of their own work locally, nationally, and internationally.

The studio concentrations in these UAA degrees include:

  • Alaska Native Art
  • Ceramics
  • Drawing
  • Digital Art and Graphic Design
  • Painting
  • Photography
  • Printmaking
  • Sculpture

Both the Kachemak Bay and Kenai River campuses offer many classes that lead to partial completion of these UAA art degrees. How much can be completed depends on which studio concentration is pursued. This program has professional accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
