If your dream is to work with very young children, an associate’s degree in early childhood development could help you pursue your goal. You will gain the basic knowledge and skills to work with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarten-age children (up to age 8); focusing on development, nutrition, health, and caring for kids with special needs.
The early childhood development AAS program is developed to meet the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s guidelines for personnel preparation, and it prepares students for employment in daycare and preschool settings. Those who go on to earn the early childhood development BA are eligible to apply for a teaching certificate that allows them to teach pre-kindergarten through third grade.
