This online course equips English language learners with the knowledge and skills
essential for success in undergraduate and graduate studies across the United States.
Two core themes structure the course: Alaskan Indigenous Cultures and Academic English
Reading Skills. The second theme incorporates learning how to use Artificial Intelligence
(AI) for academic purposes effectively. Specifically, students taking this course
will strengthen academic communication skills, deepen their understanding of Alaskan
contexts, and develop strategies for engaging with academic texts through emerging
artificial technologies. Specifically, Artificial Intelligence is examined within
the Academic English Reading Skills theme as a tool for supporting knowledge management
by teaching learners how to organize, prioritize, and distribute information while
considering effectiveness and equity in an academic professional context.
